Pretty Inspiration #1


While I'm still in the process of moving, I still want to blog! I just don't have any way to take pictures of my newest creation (although I am wearing it today), and can't do any sewing because it's all in boxes. So, in lieu of that, I've been browsing online more than usual... So this kind of post is a new thing I might do sometimes, just tracking things I like and would be able to love to make (or buy if I'm allowed!)! Today, from Modcloth, one of my favourite sites for browsing  gorgeous items!

This one is beautiful. I went to a wedding last year, and wished I had a dress like this to wear. I had my heart set on navy lace, but for some reason couldn't find one when I needed it. But this is basically what I wanted (does it have pockets? if so, then it's perfect!). I particularly like the self-fabric belt and adorable little cap sleeves.

This sailor panel dress is adorable. I've always liked that feature, but I think maybe this one is too high necked at the front for me. Maybe a slightly different style with the same feature at the back would suit me better? I also like the different stripe directions and how they make the dress look overall.



I really like this one - I've been meaning to make something green for a while, actually (it's on the long, long, list), and I really like the clean lines of this dress. The contrast trim makes the lines stand out even more and breaks up the solid colour, and the box pleats are lovely too.

 It seems I have a thing for different directional prints... Here's another! While I love florals, I own a lot of them; however, this one seems a bit different and more... Dressy? I think that's what I mean, anyway. I like it a lot. Directional prints look awesome like this.

 And the last one for now is really very similar to the one I just made... Oops. Oh well, I still really really like it! The gingham is gorgeous (green and blue, two of my favourite colours to wear... swoon), and the direction of the print looks fantastic. Also featured, but not seen in the picture, it's got a darling little bow on the back! Love it!

Evening all! It will be a short post tonight, and I also want to apologise for my face in these photos. I had to get these photos done and up today, but I'm ridiculously sick at the moment (and mostly still working, thanks to my profession). The real deal; Sirocco Jumpsuit

Leading into last summer, I made my toile of the Sirocco as a romper. I really liked it and it became my staple wear for those hot days when I didn't leave the house. Now, i've finally go around to making the real deal! This is the jumpsuit pattern, including the pockets and getting the pleats the right way around this time! I also sized down to to a 42 based on the fit of the toile. Constructed entirely on the overlocker makes it fast and quite easy. This is 2 different knit fabrics from Girl Charlee, the last of the fabrics that I won in my bundle at Guthrie and Ghani during the SewBrum raffle in 2019. I didn't have enough to make the jumpsuit all in one fabric, so I used the floral for the top and solid for the trousers. I ended up using the floral for the pockets as well as I didn't have enough of the solid. Luckily they coordinate together really well and look good together. The most comfy; Plaintain PJs

When I made my Plantain tees, I was intending on making some making changes to the pattern. Well, this is the first iteration of them - as pajamas. My favourite pajamas to wear are from Primark. They're a long tee style that covers the butt and they're made of jersey fabrics. I decided that I wanted to try making my own! I used the short sleeve version of the pattern again. I compared the length of my favourite RTW pajamas and lengthened the Plantain pattern 7.5" to match the length. I also compares the waist curve (based on my original adjustment) and realised that it was almost exactly the same which is great because I didn't need to change that at all. I used this John Kaldor viscose jersey in both mustard and black. This was to be the first part of my me made pajama wardrobe and will match with the bottom half fabrics I bought which are Robert Kaufman Mammoth Cotton Flannel.
